Chico, CA — In response to the requirements put forth by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #226 (FMVSS 226), Rescue 42 has launched a critically needed rescue tool for cutting and removing laminated side windows in vehicles: The Ripper™.
Federal law now requires most newly manufactured vehicles to install laminated glass in side and rear windows as a means of minimizing occupant ejection during a rollover. This new requirement, however, has created a serious problem for Law Enforcement, Firefighters and Medics. Unlike tempered glass (which for years has been the industry standard for vehicle side windows), laminated glass cannot be broken using window punches or other glass-breaking tools.
